My approach

When Matt and I started Forage Kitchen, I kept thinking about the space I wished I’d had. I worked with RVH on a drawing of the whole place, from the people cooking to the people sitting down to eat.

What it needed to do

A commercial kitchen can look like equipment you rent by the hour. We wanted people to see the other things that could happen there: classes, a cafe, people making food, and people helping each other start.

The design decisions

I wanted people to see what went on in the kitchen.

RVH drew the kitchen in use. On the cafe menu you can see the orange sunburst logo above the food and prices.

The language

This is the space I wish I’d had when I started my business.

Starting a business is a lonely endeavor.
